Of course we hope our little T won't be burdened with having to fill the shoes of all of our hopes/expectations if he turns out to be an only child, but we think he can rise to the occasion. Not to say we won't be trying again sometime soon...
I'm an only child - it is OK as long as the only doesn't have to please everyone all the time, be the channel for mom/dad/gps' vicarious lives (and frustrated hopes) all the time, and singlehandedly redeem the family, make the family famous, glorious, etc. Then it's obviously a losing proposition. You don't have to go that way - self-awareness should prevent it (self-awareness that my family did not have...sigh).
He is an absolutely gorgeous little boy!
